Vote Yes on L for a frequent, safe, and reliable Muni.

Families, seniors, and workers need Muni to get to school, work, errands, and loved ones. Small businesses depend on Muni to bring in workers and customers. As Muni faces service cuts, Prop L will provide critical funding for Muni service and fare equity programs.

Why We Need Prop L

Federal emergency funding is running out, and Muni is facing service cuts as early as next year. Service cuts will mean:

  • Longer waits for buses and trains, fewer hours of service, and whole lines cut

  • Transit riders stranded, forced to drive or pay for expensive ride-hailing apps

  • More traffic and competition for parking

Prop L will provide critical funding now – enough to save over 10 bus lines from being cut.

How Prop L Works

San Francisco currently taxes ride-hail at lower rates than cities like New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C. Prop L adds a 1% – 4.5% tax on ride-hail companies (like Uber) and robotaxi companies (like Waymo), raising $25 million a year in funding for Muni.

Prop L funding can only be used for:

  • Running buses, trains, and paratransit, and keeping them clean and safe.

  • Fare discounts for youth, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income riders.
